Modeling agency requirements: what you need to know

Every modeling agency has its own set of requirements when recruiting a model for its projects. The type of model, physical qualities the agency will look for all depend on the job and are thus not set in stone.

If a modeling agency is looking for models for a fashion show or for a photo shoot, then each job will have a specific set of requirements to be fulfilled. Like the fashion industry, requirements for models will constantly change. The most important thing to keep in mind is to be fairly adaptable and easy-going. This will score you high points at any agency. If you are able to move flawlessly down a ramp and also look great on camera, and if you are able to adapt to any situation – then you will be one of the agency’s top picks.

In general, most people seem to think a model should be pretty and very slim. That seems to be the general set of criteria. However, that is not the only thing. The amount of filtering that goes on in a modeling agency is huge. Every agency prides itself on getting the best models for their clients and thus will take a lot of time and effort in order to select the ‘right’ model.

One of the first things a modeling agency looks for is ethnicity. This will all depend on the product or job at hand. Most clients like choosing models who have a different ‘look’ and one that is unique. Gender and physical size are also deciding factors.
